Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector III who serves as the senior authority on protective coatings across projects, reviewing and writing coating specifications and inspection plans, and advising owners and engineers on system selection.

You will supervise Level 1 and 2 inspectors, audit applicators and coating suppliers, and lead failure investigations to ensure life-cycle performance on industrial, water, marine, and infrastructure projects in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of coating inspection experience with supervision.
• Experience in failure investigation.
• Coatings Specialist credential preferred.
• Broad experience across industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings.
• Writes specifications and findings that hold up with owners and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Review and write coating specifications and inspection/test plans.
• Investigate coating failures with field evaluation, sampling, and lab coordination.
• Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
• Supervise Level 1 and 2 inspectors and calibrate acceptance standards.
• Advise owners and engineers on coating system selection and maintenance planning.
