Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a highly experienced Coatings Inspector III to serve as the senior authority on protective coatings across projects. You will review and write coating specifications and inspection/test plans, investigate failures, audit applicators and suppliers, and supervise Level 1 and 2 inspectors.

You will advise owners and engineers on coating system selection, service life, and maintenance planning, with opportunities to lead the practice and advance to coatings

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 3 certification, current, with 8+ years of coatings inspection including supervision.
• Coating failure investigation experience.
• AMPP PCS preferred; broad industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings exposure.
• Ability to write specifications and findings that withstand owner/auditor review.

Responsibilities

• Review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
• Investigate coating failures: field evaluation, sampling, lab coordination, written finding.
• Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
• Supervise Level 1 and 2 inspectors; calibrate acceptance standards.
• Advise owners and engineers on coating system selection, service life, and maintenance planning.
