Job summary
Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector III who acts as the senior authority on protective coatings across projects, reviewing and writing coating specifications and inspection plans, and advising owners and engineers. The role includes supervising Level 1 and 2 inspectors, and coordinating failures investigations within Gulf Coast contexts.
Texas-based positions involve travel and per diem with schedules aligned to outages and weather; pay ranges from $55 to $75 per hour
Qualifications
- AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 3 certification, current.
- 8+ years in coatings inspection, including supervision.
- Experience with coating failure investigations.
- Broad experience across industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings.
Responsibilities
- Review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans.
- Investigate coating failures: field evaluation, sampling, and written findings.
- Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
- Supervise and develop Level 1 and 2 inspectors; calibrate acceptance standards.
- Advise owners and engineers on coating system selection and maintenance planning.
