Job summary

GT Technologies, Inc. in Ohio seeks a seasoned CNC Prototype Machinist/Programmer to program, set up, and operate CNC equipment for prototype parts and tooling.

You will interpret engineering drawings, determine tooling and speeds, troubleshoot issues, and work with engineers to resolve manufacturability concerns, while maintaining documentation and safety.

This role requires independent judgment and a minimum of 10 years machining experience and at least 4 years programming and setup expertise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of machining experience required.
• 4+ years programming and machine setup experience.
• Independent interpretation of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with prototype and low-volume parts.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machining equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
• Determine machining sequences, workholding methods, cutting tools, and inspection methods.
• Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depth of cut, and other machining parameters.
• Troubleshoot machining issues involving tool wear, chatter, chip control, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
• Verify programs and setups, establish offsets, and inspect first-piece and completed parts.
• Machine prototype and low-volume parts while maintaining quality and reasonable processing time.
• Document programs, setups, tooling, and machining processes so jobs can be repeated.
