CyberCoders is seeking a Senior CNC Programmer / Prototype Engineer in Livermore, CA to develop and optimize programs for complex aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and advanced technology components. You will design machining strategies, program multi-axis equipment, and drive manufacturing excellence in a high-mix, low-volume environment.

Responsibilities include creating setup plans, fixture concepts, and process improvements, while collaborating with machinists, engineers, and quality teams

Qualifications

• 10+ years in a Precision Manufacturing Environment.
• 5+ years CNC programming with Mastercam.
• 3/4/5-Axis Milling, Lathe programming, GD&T.

• Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for highly complex components.

• Create setup sheets, tooling plans, work instructions, and fixture concepts.
• Improve cycle times, tool-life, and process improvements.
• Validate programs at the machine for production readiness and process capability.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Analyze feeds, speeds, tooling, fixturing, and cutting conditions.
• Support prototype and production projects with tight tolerances.
• Drive continuous improvement for throughput and repeatability.

Position Overview

An industry-leading precision manufacturer is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Prototype Engineer to support complex aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and advanced technology programs. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in developing machining strategies, programming sophisticated multi-axis equipment, and driving manufacturing excellence in a high-mix, low-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for highly complex precision components.
• Program 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers, as well as CNC turning platforms (Mill/lathe)
• Create setup sheets, tooling plans, work instructions, and fixture concepts.
• Improve machining efficiency through cycle-time reduction, tool-life optimization, and process improvements.
• Validate and prove out programs at the machine to ensure production readiness and process capability.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to solve technical manufacturing challenges.
• Analyze feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, coolant strategies, and cutting conditions.
• Support prototype and production manufacturing projects requiring tight tolerances and exceptional quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, repeatability, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of CNC programming experience with demonstrated expertise in MasterCAM and CAD-driven programming for prototype work
• Strong Mastercam programming experience.
• Expertise programming 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC equipment.
• Strong GD&T and blueprint interpretation skills.
• Deep understanding of machining theory, tooling, fixturing, workholding, and material machinability.
• Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity working within AS9100 quality systems.

Preferred but not required

• Aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
  HyperMill experience.
• Vericut simulation and program verification experience.
• Experience with prototype and complex close-tolerance machining.
