Job summary

Dwyer Instruments seeks an experienced CNC Programmer/Lead Machinist to develop CAM programs for complex parts. You will select tooling, prepare setup sheets, and communicate with Setup/Operators.

This role leans toward leadership rather than direct labor, coordinating multi-axis machining on 4-8 axis machines. Responsibilities include writing and modifying CNC programs, reviewing drawings, verifying parts with inspection tools, adjusting tooling and offsets, maintaining machines, and mentoring

Qualifications

• Experience as a machinist with ability to take parts from print to finished component.
• Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling software; SolidCAM a plus.
• Knowledge of CNC lathes including 3- and 4-axis machines.
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and prints to determine operations.
• Ability to perform first piece inspections and use precision measuring tools.
• Good communication and teamwork; safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Write and modify CNC programs for 4 to 8 axis machines to machine parts per print/drawing.
• Review drawings, blueprints, sketches, manuals, or sample parts to determine sequence of operations.
• Analyze, install, test, and review programs to increase efficiency.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and materials; check functionality and performance.
• Set controls for speed, feed, coolant, depth, and angles.
• Input or retrieve program code from machines and networks.
• Perform first piece inspections and in-process quality control checks.
• Change tooling and offsets to meet tolerances.
• Maintain machines; complete paperwork; monitor production.
• Mentor other CNC personnel.
• Adhere to safety and housekeeping.
