Job summary

VulcanForms seeks a Senior CNC Programmer to develop production processes and CNC programs for precision manufacturing. You will contribute to NPI, process development, and continual improvement of existing manufacturing workflows, ensuring quality, productivity, and cost targets across multiple machining operations.

Leveraging Mastercam, Creo, and Lean principles, you will optimize setup, tooling, and programs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC programming in precision manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of 3D modeling and CAM with Mastercam.
• Expert machining including 3-axis/5-axis milling, turning, EDM.
• Ability to read drawings, GD&T and inspection requirements.
• Fixture/workholding design using SMED principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting and independent decision making.
• Detail-oriented with focus on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Use solid models and detailed prints from Creo or Mastercam to develop work holding and tooling.
• Write CNC programs using Mastercam.
• Prove out programs and ensure production readiness.
• Support execution of OQ / PQ activities for processes/products.
• Develop detailed work instructions as needed.

Job Purpose

As a Senior CNC Programmer at VulcanForms, Inc., Devens, MA, you will develop production processes and CNC programs for our manufactured products. You will play a key role in New Product Introduction (NPI), process development, and the continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes. Leveraging advanced machining technologies, innovative cutting strategies, and Lean manufacturing principles, you will optimize quality, productivity, and cost while supporting production across a variety of precision machining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Use solid models and detailed prints from Creo or Mastercam to develop work holding and tooling.
• Write CNC programs using the latest version of Mastercam.
• Prove out programs and ensure that they are production ready.
• Support execution of OQ / PQ activities as required for the process/products.
• Develop detailed work instructions as needed.
• Support operations with problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical issues.
• Maintain configuration management by properly naming and saving electronic files and programs.
• Complete all work assignments, design, and development projects with minimal supervision.
• Contribute to the team environment by accomplishing results while cohesively working as a team member.
• Work within the framework and always abide by VulcanForms QMS (Quality Management System) and the requirements of the OSHA safety policies and procedures.
• Promote the use and adherence to our company's 7S and LEAN philosophies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of 3D modeling and CAM programming using Mastercam.
• Expert knowledge of CNC machining, including:
• 3-axis and 5-axis milling
• Single- and dual-spindle turning
• EDM machining
• Proven ability to read engineering drawings, interpret GD&T, composite tolerances, and support dimensional inspection requirements.
• Thorough understanding of fixture and workholding design utilizing SMED principles.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions while working independently.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Continuous improvement mindset focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting additive manufacturing production environments.
• Experience programming complex aerospace, medical, defense, or high-precision manufacturing components.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with ERP or MES systems.
• Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and process validation activities.

The annual base salary range for this position is $87,000 to $120,400.
