Job summary

Sigma Design in Canby, OR, is seeking a Senior CNC Programmer for direct placement with an aerospace manufacturing partner. You will develop, optimize, and support CNC programs and toolpaths to ensure quality and efficient production of precision components.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of CNC programming experience, mastery of CAM software (Mastercam, hyperMill, SolidWorks CAM), and strong GD&T knowledge. US work eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years CNC programming and machining experience.
• Experience programming 3-, 4-, and/or 5-axis CNC machines.
• Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, hyperMill, SolidWorks CAM.
• Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, tooling, speeds and feeds.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, models, specs and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Develop CNC programs using CAM software and optimize toolpaths.
• Review drawings and specifications to support part production.
• Support setup, prove-out, and first article activities.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues.

Senior CNC Programmer

Sigma Design has collaborated with an aerospace manufacturing company seeking an experienced Senior CNC Programmer to join their facility in Canby, OR. This company delivers manufacturing solutions for aerospace structures and is the trusted source for their clients’ projects.

• The hiring range for this role is typically between $70,000 and $110,000 annually, with the full range extending to $150,000 annually, based on experience, internal equity, and career progression

Primary Function:

The Senior CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting CNC machining programs and processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and successful production of precision components.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

• Develop CNC programs using Mastercam, hyperMill, SolidWorks CAM, or similar software.
• Create and optimize toolpaths, cutting strategies, and machining processes.
• Review engineering drawings, models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
• Support setup, prove-out, and first article activities for new and existing parts.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues.
• Work with machinists, engineers, and production leaders to improve quality, cycle times, and efficiency.
• Document programming methods, setup notes, tooling requirements, and process improvements.
• Support continuous improvement efforts across machining operations.
• Follow all safety requirements and contribute to a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

• 3+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
• Experience programming 3, 4, and/or 5-axis CNC machines.
• Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, hyperMill, SolidWorks CAM, or similar programs.
• Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, tooling, and setting speeds and feeds.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, models, specifications, and GD&T.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Experience with verification software such as Vericut preferred.
• Experience machining aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and/or Inconel preferred.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
• Background - Pass a post-offer background verification.
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to applicable government contract and/or regulatory requirements

Work Environment

Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
