Job summary

Apm-Manufacturing is seeking a senior CNC Mill Machinist III to lead complex CNC and manual milling tasks for high‑precision aerospace components. You will mentor junior machinists, interpret GD&T drawings, and drive process improvements while maintaining ITAR and AS9100 compliance.

Ideal candidates bring 5–8+ years of milling experience in aerospace, strong G‑code editing skills, and a solid track record of first article inspections and tight tolerance control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; technical degree or apprenticeship preferred.
• 5–8+ years of milling experience in a precision manufacturing environment; aerospace experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up, operate, and optimize complex CNC and/or multi-axis milling machines.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
• Develop setup strategies, select tooling, and design/modify fixtures as needed.
• Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections in accordance with AS9100 and customer specifications.
• Hold tight tolerances (±0.0002”–±0.0005” typical in aerospace applications).
• Troubleshoot advanced machining, tooling, and process issues to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
• Make program edits at the machine (G-code) and recommend process improvements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Train and mentor Mill Machinist I and II team members.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR if applicable).
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and traceability documentation.
• Advanced knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak).
• Strong proficiency in GD&T and complex blueprint interpretation.
• Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis/5-axis preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize machining processes.
• High level of proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
