Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a Sr Process Engineer - CNC to support the Motors Business Unit in Thomaston, CT. You will handle manufacturing engineering tasks, CAD/CAM tooling, and manufacturing process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality across the shop floor.

You will lead 5-axis CNC programming, apply GD&T standards, develop work instructions, and collaborate with QA, engineering, and sourcing to drive continuous improvement and safe, reliable production.

Qualifications

• Extensive machining experience required.
• Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and best practices.
• Willingness to travel domestically.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain bills of manufacture in ERP.
• Design tools and fixtures for in-house or external manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot shop floor issues with cross-functional teams.
• Specify and document manufacturing processes for part production.
• Review ECNs and update masters and work orders.
• Research and recommend equipment to meet production and safety requirements.
• Plan and optimize new part processes with CNC team.
• Maximize machine efficiency and collect/analyze data for improvements.
• Read blueprints using ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Lead new product integration in the machine shop.
