Job summary

Zygo Corporation, part of AMETEK, is seeking an onsite CNC Machinist in Richmond, CA to manufacture high-precision glass components for extreme precision optics. You will set up, program, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC centers, work with advanced materials like Zerodur and Fused Silica, and collaborate across engineering and quality to ensure top-level results.

Experience with high-precision optics, GD&T, and Fanuc/Siemens controls is essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree in Machining Technologies strongly preferred; 6+ years CNC Machining experience; optics/ultra-precision preferred.
• Proficient with Fanuc and/or Siemens controls; edit programs and support prove-out; basics of Gibbs and Mastercam.

Responsibilities

• Plan, setup, program, and execute complex jobs with high precision.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and planning to meet delivery schedules and develop processes.
• Lead continuous improvement to safety, quality, and throughput; mentor machinists.
• Operate CNC and non-CNC machines to produce high-precision components from glass/ceramics.
• Lead 3-,4-,5-axis milling; select tooling, offsets, fixturing for tight tolerances.
• Load/edit CNC programs; support prove-out and engineering changes.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
