Zygo in Middlefield, CT is seeking a CNC Machinist for the 3rd shift to operate both CNC and non-CNC machines in our optics group. You will perform machining operations, read complex drawings, and set up tools to meet precise specifications.

You will collaborate with engineering and quality teams, write and adjust programs, and maintain safety, efficiency, and documentation requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; trade school preferred.
• Associate’s degree or certificate in machining/metrology/manufacturing operations a plus.
• 1+ years of hands-on production machining experience.
• Safety first, continuous improvement/ high quality mindset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and process routings.
• Working knowledge of shop math and theory.
• Collaborative team player with problem-solving and communication skills.
• Driven to achieve with initiative, resilience, and flexibility with changing priorities.
• Capable to lift and move up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsabilités

• Operate CNC and non-CNC machines to perform machining operations, incl. drilling, milling and shaping glass to specs.
• Assemble and position cutting tools in machine spindles as required.
• Write, load, edit and store programs to produce accurately machined parts.
• Work from complex drawings, sketches, specifications and written/verbal instructions.
• Perform complex set-ups for new or unusual assignments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams as required.
