Job summary

Kamatics Corporation in Bloomfield, CT, is seeking a Machinist V (Manufacturing Technology) to support our Manufacturing Technology and Continuous Improvement department. This highly skilled CNC machinist will focus on prototype machining, R&D activities, process optimization, and standardization of manufacturing methods.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced experience with multi-axis CNC machines (5-axis strongly preferred).
• Experience machining complex components to tight tolerances.
• Prototype machining, process development, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
• Experience supporting engineering or manufacturing process improvements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced CNC machines (5-axis preferred) for prototype development.
• Perform precision machining on components requiring tight tolerances and complex geometries.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop, test, and refine machining processes, tooling, and fixturing.
• Support prototype builds, first-piece development, and machining trials to evaluate new methods.
• Perform full machine setups independently, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, and program verification.
• Validate and prove out CNC programs, adjusting to improve performance, quality and repeatability.
• Identify opportunities to standardize machining processes, improve efficiency, and reduce scrap.
• Troubleshoot complex machining issues and implement corrective actions.
• Interpret drawings, GD&T, and specs to ensure machining accuracy.
• Document processes and best practices to support standardization and knowledge sharing.
• Provide technical guidance to machinists.
• Maintain safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
