Job summary

Simtra BioPharma Solutions in Bloomington, IN is seeking a Senior Machinist to maintain and improve production equipment in a cGMP pharmaceutical environment. You will work with CNC lathes, mills, and tooling, supporting daily operations and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager, you will interpret drawings, use CMM for inspection, manage maintenance projects, and help ensure safety, quality, and on-time production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Five years machining experience or a machining-related technical degree.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
• Experience programming and operating CNC lathes and mills.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices and tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient machine shop environment.
• Manage project activities including cost tracking and material procurement.
• Repair and refurbish tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
• Set up, program, and operate CNC lathes and mills.
• Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and conformance.
• Use CMM to inspect, measure, and reverse-engineer components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
