Job summary

KHS, a Salzgitter AG subsidiary, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist in Waukesha, Wisconsin. You will study blueprints, set up machines, write and edit CNC programs, and verify finished parts meet exacting tolerances on VTLs, vertical machining centers, and horizontal boring bars.

We value five years of setup/machining experience, the ability to read drawings in databases, and precise tooling. Strong problem solving and adherence to safety and quality standards are essential for this on-site role

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of set-up and machining experience or blend of schooling/experience.
• Experience with VTLs, Vertical Machining Centers and Horizontal boring bars.
• Experience keying in on large part machining
• Ability to use CNC controls and associated computers for program transfer.
• Ability to research drawings in drawing database program.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Using precision measuring equipment, measure, mark, and scribes dimensions on material or workpiece as guides for machining.
• Create offline and edit CNC programs; dry run, debug and edit CNC programs at machine.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
• May set up machines for operation by others.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls.
• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Grinds and adapts tooling and attachments for special work requirements.
• Works with large and expensive parts or smaller parts of a complicated nature having critical and exacting requirements as to tolerance and finish.
• Diagnoses and rectifies tooling problems and machine malfunctions.
