You will set up, program, and prove out parts with high precision, taking ownership of process quality from print or model to production. The role requires independent setup, GD&T interpretation, and mentoring capabilities, with a track record of 9+ years in CNC machining and capability with multi-axis/mill-turn work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Machining certificate or diploma, apprenticeship, journeyman card or NIMS credentials preferred
• Sign-offs: completed workcenter qualification cards across CNC categories with supervisor sign-off authority

Responsibilities

• Set up and prove out parts across all CNC workcenters, including multi-axis and mill-turn — planning sequence, tooling, workholding, and process.
• Author, restructure, and optimize programs at the control, including canned cycles, subprograms, work offset structures, and macro or parametric routines.
• Own process decisions for new and problem work — operation sequence, tooling and insert grade, workholding strategy, cutting conditions, and cycle-time approach.
• Hold tight tolerances and finishes on difficult material, thin-wall and long-reach parts.
• Design and specify fixtures, soft jaws, arbors, holding devices, and checking gauges; fabricate or coordinate their manufacture.
• Interpret prints, models, and GD&T fully and translate them into setup and inspection decisions.
• Apply trigonometry and advanced shop math to compound angles and dimensional stack-ups.
• Own dimensional quality on the work performed and support first-article inspection.
• Recover machines and processes from crashes; re-establish setups and requalify parts.
• Diagnose chatter, poor finish, drift, tool life, and workholding movement; partner with maintenance.
• Support programming and engineering on new work and assist quoting with cycle and setup estimates.
• Train and mentor Machinist I and II and operator personnel; sign off competency as authorized.
• Create setup sheets, tool lists and work instructions for repeatability across the crew.
• Drive scrap and rework reduction and 5S in the assigned area.
• Follow safety rules and maintain accurate labor, quantity, and scrap reporting.
