Job summary

Babbitting Service Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist in Illinois to set up and operate CNC lathes with Fanuc controls. The role requires 5+ years’ manufacturing experience, and the ability to write/edit programs at the machine control while managing tooling, offsets, and work holding.

The candidate will inspect parts, ensure conformance to drawings, and troubleshoot machining issues in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment. Compensation reflects skill and experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years' manufacturing or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and interpret part drawings, dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauge pins).
• Experience with high-mix, low-volume or job-shop machining environments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes.
• Write and edit programs at the machine control.
• Manage tooling, work holding, and offsets.
• Inspect finished parts and identify and correct machining issues.
• Verify first-run parts and adjust as needed.
• Upload/download CNC programs to/from a program server.
