Job summary

State of Florida’s Florida Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) – Activities in Saint Augustine. The role supports resident ADLs, implements a structured activities program, and provides direct nursing care under supervision in a skilled nursing facility.

Candidates need Florida CNA licensure, BLS CPR, and strong communication. Weekend work, driving a 15-passenger van, and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Must have current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Florida.
• Must be willing and able to work some weekends and holidays as required.
• Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger facility van.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have good computer skills.
• Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.
• Experience in a long-term care environment with a geriatric population in activities department.
• Current BLS CPR card.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Ensure residents’ ADLs, daily assignments, and activities program are completed during the shift.
• Assist with developing and implementing an activities program that improves physical, mental, and social well-being.
• Provide direct nursing care to residents under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Document plans and care in the resident’s medical record.
• Complete required documentation and communicate resident concerns to supervisors.
• Attend in-service programs and participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
