Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. is seeking a seasoned CMT Engineer to lead construction materials testing and special inspection services. You will oversee engineers, technicians, and inspectors, guiding field investigations, analyses, and report preparation to exceed client expectations.

The role involves coordinating budgets, reviewing reports, and ensuring timely project deliverables across multiple sites. A PE license and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technologies, or a related field.
• Typically 7+ years of experience.
• P.E. license required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent people and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in an independent or team environment.
• Ability to be self-motivated and performance driven.
• Highly organized individual.
• Must be willing to pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including background investigation, drug screening and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to provide quality engineering services
• Analyzes and reviews reports, maps, drawings, specifications, and other project data
• Coordinates or directs project budgets, record keeping, materials testing, and inspections
• Oversees, mentors, and provides guidance for staff that may include other engineers, technicians, and special inspectors to ensure our goal of exceeding our clients’ expectations on every project
• Authorizes and/or reviews technical reports and letters
• Satisfies multiple and unrelated deadlines
• May perform field testing and site visits. Field work will include testing and inspecting soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials at locations across our service area
• Ensures project reports are completed and submitted timely

Who we are looking for:

A CMT Engineer that will apply advanced engineering techniques and professional judgement to provide construction materials testing and special inspection services and support. Responsibilities include overseeing other engineers, technicians, and special inspectors to deliver results that ensure the goal of exceeding clients’ expectations on every project. May include leading field investigations, engineering analysis and calculations, design and development of plans and specifications, and the preparation and review of reports for services provided.

What you’ll be doing:

Specific duties include, but not limited to:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to provide quality engineering services
• Analyzes and reviews reports, maps, drawings, specifications, and other project data
• Coordinates or directs project budgets, record keeping, materials testing, and inspections
• Oversees, mentors, and provides guidance for staff that may include other engineers, technicians, and special inspectors to ensure our goal of exceeding our clients’ expectations on every project
• Authorizes and/or reviews technical reports and letters
• Satisfies multiple and unrelated deadlines
• May perform field testing and site visits. Field work will include testing and inspecting soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials at locations across our service area
• Ensures project reports are completed and submitted timely
• Ensures accuracy for all items related to billing for projects
• Maintains excellent client relations by responding promptly, etc.
• Provides input relative to needs of client to Project Manager
• May assist with marketing and business development activities
• Other duties as assigned

What you need to have:
