Job summary

Kellwick is seeking a seasoned CMMC & NIST SP 800-171 Consultant to support US defense supply-chain cybersecurity requirements. This role focuses on readiness, implementation and advisory services for protecting FCI/CUI and preparing for CMMC assessments.

The engagement is part-time and project-based, remote with a preference for US-based work. You will conduct gap assessments, develop SSPs and POA&Ms, and collaborate with client IT/security teams to map controls to practical improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional cybersecurity, GRC or security assurance experience.
• Practical experience with NIST SP 800-171.
• Practical CMMC readiness or implementation experience.
• Experience handling FCI and/or CUI.
• Strong client-facing communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform CMMC Level 1 and Level 2 readiness assessments.
• Perform NIST SP 800-171 gap assessments.
• Develop and review System Security Plans.
• Develop and manage Plans of Action and Milestones.
• Map NIST SP 800-171 requirements to controls.
• Assess implementation of security requirements.
• Prepare clients for CMMC assessment.
• Produce clear readiness findings and remediation roadmaps.
• Support ongoing governance engagements.
