Job summary

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. in Pleasanton, CA, seeks a CMM Inspector for a 3-6 month contract (possible extension) to perform dimensional inspections of high-precision components, ensuring conformance to engineering drawings and GD&T.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degrees in engineering/manufacturing preferred.
• 5+ years of precision inspection experience using CMMs in a quality-controlled environment.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T to interpret complex engineering intents.
• Ensure accurate measurements using GD&T principles.
• Experience with CMM software (CMM Manager preferred) and measurement hand tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles related to dimensional inspection and ANSI sampling standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual CMM machinery to perform in-process, first-article, and final dimensional inspections.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T symbols.
• Collaborate with engineering to identify critical inspection dimensions.
• Determine appropriate measuring instruments based on drawings.
• Record inspection data including calibrated instruments used.
• Document acceptance or rejection of material.
• Collaborate with engineering/manufacturing to troubleshoot discrepancies.
• Label and segregate materials not meeting specifications.
• Assist with non-CMM related inspections as needed.
