Job summary

Garmin seeks a Senior CMF Engineer - Plastics to join our team and drive CMF material solutions from concept to product launch. You will lead material selections, color and finish decisions while aligning with manufacturing capabilities and quality targets across Garmin products.

The role requires a strong background in CMF technologies, materials testing, and data-driven problem solving. Collaboration with design, engineering and supply chain is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of CMF or materials science experience.
  • Strong CMF knowledge across plastics, silicones, metals and coatings.
  • Experience in materials characterization, experimental design and data analysis.
  • Ability to identify failure modes and perform root cause investigations.
  • Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource for CMF materials including selection, color and finish.
  • Develop CMF solutions from concept through product launch.
  • Plan and conduct CMF explorations, evaluations and testing.
  • Identify risks and resolve complex quality/manufacturing issues via data analysis.
  • Develop, validate material verification tests and assist color matching.
  • Maintain CMF standards and best practices across products.
  • Stay current on emerging materials and manufacturing technologies.
  • Contribute to project planning, timelines and technical recommendations.
  • Share CMF knowledge through training and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Provide mentorship to junior CMF engineers and grow team capability.
