Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a Senior CMF Engineer - Plastics to join our U.S. team. You will develop and implement CMF solutions from concept through product launch, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and quality across Garmin’s product lines.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a materials-related field and 5+ years of CMF experience, with strong skills in materials selection, testing, data analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of plastics, silicones, metals, coatings and CMF technologies.
• Experience in materials characterization, experimental design, data analysis and failure investigations.
• Ability to evaluate material performance and identify failure modes across product categories.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as CMF technical resource for material categories and color/finish.
• Develop CMF solutions from concept to launch.
• Plan and execute CMF explorations and testing activities.
• Identify material-related risks, conduct root cause investigations, and resolve issues.
• Develop and validate material verification test methods and color matching.
• Maintain CMF standards and promote best practices across products.
• Stay current on emerging materials and technologies and evaluate new CMF opportunities.
• Support project planning with timelines, milestones, and technical recommendations.
• Share materials knowledge across the organization through training and collaboration.
• Provide mentorship to junior CMF engineers.
