Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a Cloud Storage Platform Engineer to design, build, and improve enterprise storage and data protection services in AWS and Azure. You will use Infrastructure-as-Code to automate backup, recovery, storage provisioning, and cyber resiliency, while ensuring compliance with security controls and operations standards.

Responsibilities include designing storage services (S3, EBS, EFS, FSx), building IaC pipelines, and collaborating across cloud, security, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and work experience relevant to systems design/architecture.
• 8+ years overall experience in infrastructure, storage, or cloud engineering may be required.
• Hands-on experience with AWS storage and data protection services (S3, EBS, EFS, FSx, AWS Backup, Glacier).
• Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, AWS CDK)
• Scripting or programming experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Understanding of backup, RPO/RTO, retention, replication, DR concepts
• Familiarity with IAM, KMS encryption, least-privilege access
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise storage and data protection services in AWS.
• Develop IaC to automate backup, recovery, storage provisioning, and cyber resiliency workflows.
• Build automation for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, reporting, and policy enforcement.
• Align cloud storage with enterprise standards, security controls, and compliance requirements.
• Strengthen cyber resiliency with immutable backups, cross-account/region replication, tested recoveries.
• Implement monitoring and reporting for backup success, capacity, cost, and compliance posture.
• Create/run docs: runbooks, architecture diagrams, SOPs.
• Collaborate with cloud, security, app, and operations teams to deliver secure storage solutions.
• Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and patch cycles
