Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to act as the senior client-facing technology leader for cloud initiatives. You will partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop solution strategies, and guide complex engagements from discovery through deployment and operation.

You’ll lead cross‑functional teams, evaluate cloud options, and ensure solutions meet business value, security, and efficiency goals across enterprise platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience serving in solution architecture, consulting, technical leadership, or customer‑facing technology roles.
• Leading complex, cross‑functional technology initiatives from discovery through implementation with measurable outcomes.
• Engaging business leaders to gather requirements and translate objectives into practical solutions.
• Advanced understanding of Azure services and cloud solution architecture, identity, networking, and security concepts.
• Working knowledge of AWS cloud architecture principles.
• Understanding enterprise networking: DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, VPNs, hybrid networking.
• Experience with relational and non‑relational databases, data integrations, and application data architectures.
• Strong Linux experience and enterprise workloads handling.
• Designing enterprise apps, SaaS, APIs, and business systems.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership and mentoring experience across cross‑functional teams.
• Business acumen to evaluate costs, licensing, and long‑term supportability.
• Strong organizational and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to drive adoption of standards and best practices across teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical advisor for business stakeholders and opportunities.
• Lead client engagement activities including discovery, requirements, and workshops.
• Translate needs into scalable, practical technology solutions.
• Provide lifecycle leadership from concept to deployment and operational transition.
• Develop implementation roadmaps and delivery plans for cloud, apps, and tech initiatives.
• Collaborate with vendors, delivery teams, and a Cloud Center of Excellence.
• Guide solution architects, engineers, and delivery teams through lifecycle.
• Assess options and recommend cost‑effective solutions with long‑term value.
