Senior Cloud Solutions Architect/Engineer

LOCATION: D.C, Maryland, Virginia, St. Louis, MO - mostly remote work

CLEARANCE LEVEL: Active TS/SCI

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promote methodologies for building and operating highly available, scalable services.
  • Assist in reducing and resolving production incidents (e.g., Site Reliability Engineering).
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes.
  • Evaluate, build, and modify automation for deploying and managing production services.
  • Create, assess, update, and maintain documentation related to Product Lines.
  • Design elastic, resilient, and self-healing Cloud applications.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and tutorials, owning the code and its instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with team members to design, architect, and implement solutions across geographic locations.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in Python or Ruby, ideally in SOA applications.
  • Strong understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, distributed networks).
  • Knowledge of building services in IaaS/PaaS/SaaS cloud environments.
  • Experience with APIs and RESTful services.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices.
  • Familiarity with build automation and CI/CD ecosystems: Git, Gerrit, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, Nexus.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Fabric.
  • Certified AWS Solutions Architect.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree or ten years of related experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar fields.
  • At least five years of experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Experience in diagnosing and resolving critical, customer-facing production issues.
  • Experience developing object-oriented software (e.g., Java, C++).
  • Experience with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes, Mesos, DC/OS, Swarm.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems and deploying applications on these stacks.
