Job summary

J&T Business Consulting is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer 3 (TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph) in Annapolis Junction, MD. You will design, build and optimize cloud-based information retrieval and big-data processing systems, mainly in Java, across back-end data processing and analytics layers.

You’ll lead development tasks, review results, and advise on hardware/software trade-offs while guiding the team on Hadoop and cloud computing best practices.

Qualifications

• 12 years of software engineering on large, complex programs.
• Minimum 4 years in big-data cloud or distributed computing.
• Bachelor’s in CS or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Certificate counts: Cloudera Hadoop Developer adds one year.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test cloud-based information retrieval and big-data processing systems in Java.
• Build and manage MapReduce analytics workflows across multi-node clusters.
• Write code for distributed file systems and data stores.
• Architect scalable solutions for very large data volumes.
• Debug and tune distributed frameworks; manage multi-node environments.
• Review, document results and resolve software problem reports.
• Advise on techTrade-offs and COTS/GOTS usage.
• Lead development tasks and ensure quality across the team.
• Act as SME on Hadoop and cloud computing; propose improvements.
• Document standards and drive adoption of new tech.
