Job summary

Coupa is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to own complex security problems end to end, building cloud security controls and automating tooling across multi‑cloud environments. You will partner with Engineering, IT, and Compliance to ship durable security capabilities and drive secure software development practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in security engineering or penetration testing with ownership of complex assessments from scoping through remediation
• Cloud security fundamentals across AWS, GCP, or Azure including IAM and networking
• Strong scripting/automation in Python, Bash, or JavaScript; experience building/extending internal security tooling
• Experience with dependency/container vulnerability scanning tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Working knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP) and auditable evidence
• Critical thinking and root‑cause analysis; ability to explain vulnerabilities beyond CVSS
• Clear written and verbal communication translating findings into remediation guidance
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/IS or related
• Certifications a plus: CISSP, CCSP, CISA or AWS/GCP security certifications

Responsibilities

• Design and implement multi-cloud security controls across Coupa’s cloud environment
• Build policy as code and IaC security guardrails integrated into CI/CD gates
• Harden containers and Kubernetes clusters including image scanning and network policies
• Own vulnerability analysis of applications, containers, and dependencies; triage by impact
• Design and implement remediations including secure code fixes and IAM policy adjustments
• Support incident response and forensics with log analysis and remediation validation
• Collaborate with Risk & Compliance to provide technical evidence for audits
• Mentor other security engineers and share root-cause analysis techniques
• Participate in on-call rotation and improve remediation/runbooks
