Job summary

Alkira, a Lumen company, seeks a Principal Security Engineer to shape security strategy across cloud, infrastructure, platform, application, and operations. You will lead architecture decisions, own the HackerOne bug bounty program, and guide security across Kubernetes and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years in cybersecurity/security engineering/infrastructure/cloud security.
• Deep expertise securing large-scale cloud-native environments and distributed systems.
• Advanced Kubernetes security expertise (workload protection, container security, hardening, runtime).
• Expert-level Linux administration, automation, and system security.
• Ability to write production-quality automation in Go or Python.
• Experience across cloud, application, infrastructure, identity, and security operations.
• Threat modelling, risk assessments, vulnerability management, and security reviews.
• Ability to lead technical strategy and influence executives to drive security outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term security architecture and strategy across cloud, infrastructure, application, platform, and operations domains.
• Own bug bounty program on HackerOne: triage, severity, remediation coordination, researcher communication.
• Serve as technical authority for Kubernetes, container, Linux, and cloud security.
• Lead security architecture reviews and establish secure design and deployment standards for cloud-native systems.
• Drive risk reduction through threat modelling and proactive assessments.
• Build detection engineering on the observability stack and lead incident response and post-incident improvements.
• Design scalable security controls, automation, and engineering frameworks.
• Lead security investigations, incident response, and post-incident improvements across distributed environments.
• Mentor security and engineering teams and establish governance and technical standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation handling security alerts and threats.
