Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead Kubernetes platform engineering, service mesh, and developer platforms across the enterprise container ecosystem.

The role provides technical leadership for platform APIs, Kubernetes automation, and CI/CD modernization, partnering with architecture, security, SRE, DevOps, and application teams to deliver enterprise‑grade solutions and improve developer productivity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, cloud-native development, or distributed systems engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Golang (Go) with hands-on experience building APIs, microservices, controllers, operators, and automation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and/or Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) in enterprise production environments.
• Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native applications and platform services.
• Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Tekton, Argo CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
• Experience implementing and supporting GitOps-based deployment models.
• Hands-on experience with Service Mesh technologies such as Istio, Consul, Linkerd, or equivalent service networking solutions.
• Strong understanding of: Microservices architecture, distributed systems design, container technologies (Docker/OCI), API-first development, cloud-native patterns.
• Experience integrating enterprise services including IAM, Secrets Management, Service Discovery, Security and Compliance controls, platform onboarding workflows.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, Elasticsearch/Splunk, Jaeger.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the design and engineering approach for complex features are consistent with the larger portfolio solution.
• Conduct research, design prototyping and other exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets and components for release management, CI/CD, features, etc.
• Help define the technology tool stack for the solution. Evaluate and adapt new testing tool/framework/practices for team(s).
• Kubernetes and OpenShift platform engineering.
• Golang API and microservices development.
• Service Mesh (Consul, Istio, Linkerd) enablement and automation.
• CI/CD and GitOps platforms (Tekton, ArgoCD).
• Platform onboarding and self‑service automation.
• Observability, reliability, and platform resiliency.
• Enterprise‑scale cloud‑native architecture and automation.
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery for complex features across teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to establish high‑level needs and with architects for requirements.
• Provide technical oversight for solution development.
