Job summary

Alliant Energy in Madison, WI is expanding its cloud engineering team to design and operate a modern, scalable, hybrid cloud platform. The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer will establish standards, develop automation, and guide platform modernization across the enterprise.

You will lead automation, governance, observability, and reliability efforts, collaborating with security and operations to deliver secure, cost-aware infrastructure that supports critical energy services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a computing/engineering field.
• 5+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering or site reliability engineering experience.
• 3+ years experience developing or supporting cloud-based infrastructure and IaC practices.

Responsibilities

• Designs and evolves enterprise cloud platform capabilities across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Develops and maintains infrastructure automation frameworks and reusable platform capabilities.
• Establishes cloud platform architectures, guardrails, and standards for security, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Engineers and supports shared platform services like connectivity, identity, observability, and foundational infra capabilities.
• Develops self-service platform capabilities and standardized deployment patterns.
• Leads platform automation, AI-enabled engineering tools, and reliability improvements.
• Implements observability, performance, and reliability practices to improve platform health.
• Drives cloud governance, resource management, and cost transparency.
