Quevera is seeking an Application Engineer III to provide 24x7 application support at Fort Meade, MD. The role focuses on automation-enhanced security evaluation, monitoring, and operations across multiple teams.

You will work in a blended role spanning systems administration and watch floor support, ensuring system health and reliable data flows. Responsibilities include proactive troubleshooting, cloud operations in AWS, and monitoring with Grafana/Kibana/CloudWatch.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
• Experience monitoring data reliability and watch floor operations.
• Proficiency with Linux system administration and cloud/AWS operations.
• Experience with dataflow tools and related monitoring (NiFi, Cribl, Kafka, Logstash).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitLab Pipelines, Docker.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain application systems to ensure data reliability and accuracy.
• Conduct proactive troubleshooting and potential system configuration changes to improve performance.
• Track metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts, and application status to prevent downtime.
• Identify service degradation and escalates issues on the watch floor for rapid resolution.
• Perform basic Linux administration tasks including service control, logs review, and server reboots.
• Support AWS-based operations, checking instance health and performing basic troubleshooting.
• Work a rotating 24/7 shift to provide continuous application support.

Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer III (24x7) with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph in Fort Meade, Maryland.

As part of the Secure the Enterprise initiative, you will help develop capabilities to shift the current manual system security evaluation and authorization process to a new model that emphasizes automation, streamlined processes and approvals, continuous monitoring and assessment, and network data gathering across the entire life cycle of a project.

This is a blended position across all teams in ANDS, with responsibilities spanning Systems Administration and Operations Support. The role supports application reliability and accuracy through continuous performance monitoring, proactive troubleshooting, system health monitoring, Linux system administration, cloud operations, and 24/7 watch floor support.

Work Schedule

• Shift Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM and 6:00 PM-6:00 AM
• Availability: Position provides 24/7 application support on the watch floor

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure data reliability and accuracy by monitoring and maintaining application systems.
• Contribute to operational success through continuous performance monitoring and proactive troubleshooting, potentially including changes to system configuration and the code base.
• Maintain system health by tracking metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts, and application status to prevent downtime and ensure optimal application performance.
• Support watch floor operations by identifying service degradation, failed dataflows, system errors, and application issues and escalating as needed.
• Perform basic Linux system administration tasks, including checking service status; starting, stopping, and restarting services; reviewing logs; validating disk, memory, and CPU usage; and supporting server reboots.
• Support cloud-based operations using the AWS Console or AWS CLI to check instance health, review system status, restart or reboot servers, and assist with basic operational troubleshooting.
• Work a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 application support on the watch floor.

Minimum Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree and at least four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Doctoral degree and at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
• Candidates must have proficiency in one (1) or more of the following skillsets/technologies:
  • Monitoring / Watch Floor Operations: Monitoring tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
  • Systems Administration: Working in a Linux environment, including the ability to check system health; start, stop, and restart services; review logs; and safely reboot servers.
  • Cloud / AWS Operations: Experience supporting EC2 instances, service health checks, and basic operational troubleshooting.
  • Dataflow / Application Support: Data pipeline/dataflow tools such as Apache NiFi, Cribl, Kafka, Logstash, or similar; experience monitoring application health, failed jobs, queues, data movement, and ingestion issues.
  • DevOps: Terraform, Ansible, GitLab Pipelines, or Docker.
