Job summary

Maricopa County Community College District is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize the district's hybrid cloud network, bridging on‑premises infrastructure with AWS to deliver secure, high‑performance connectivity for students, faculty, and staff.

As a principal‑level role, you will define technical standards, mentor teammates, and collaborate with Cybersecurity for controls, disaster recovery, and cost optimization while promoting infrastructure best practices

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus 7+ years in networking or IT.
Cloud certifications in AWS or networking within 6 months.
Experience with cloud SDN and multi-cloud environments.
Ability to mentor staff and lead district-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities

Design and architect scalable cloud and on-premise networks with AWS and enterprise gear.
Provision and maintain high-availability network services across district sites and cloud environments.
Direct routing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and SLA adherence for all networks.
Mentor junior staff and coordinate with DevOps and Systems teams.
Collaborate with Cybersecurity on controls, firewall policies, and audits.
Establish SOPs and cost-optimization strategies; support disaster recovery planning.
