Job summary

Bloomberg is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the CNCI Core & Lifecycle team. You will design and build systems that automate Bloomberg’s physical infrastructure at scale, enabling safer, more automated operations across OS provisioning, firmware, and deployment stacks.

You will develop reusable tooling and APIs for platform teams, driving reliability and performance of critical workloads such as Hadoop, databases, search, and AI services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience; proficiency in Go or Python or similar language.
• Experience building production observability with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Strong Linux systems expertise, troubleshooting on Ubuntu or similar distributions.
• Experience automating infrastructure with Ansible and Terraform.
• Experience building infrastructure for Hadoop, databases, search, or AI services.

Responsibilities

• Improve reliability of foundational infrastructure by safely managing OS, firmware, network policy, and configuration changes across production fleets.
• Accelerate self-service management by delivering reusable tooling and APIs for platform teams.
• Automate compute lifecycles end-to-end from provisioning to full stack deployment.
• Build and operate automation for rapid CVE patching and proactive security hardening.
• Enhance system observability through monitoring, alerts, and cross-team collaboration.
• Lead incident response and root-cause analysis to drive long-term stability.
