Job summary

Bloomberg is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the CNCI Core & Lifecycle team in New York. You will design and build systems that automate and harden Bloomberg's physical infrastructure at scale, enabling reliable stateful workloads across large fleets.

You will own lifecycle orchestration, improve observability, and deliver self-service tooling for platform teams. This role emphasizes automation, collaboration, and safe deployment in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, with proficiency in Go, Python, or a comparable language.
• BA/BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience building production observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Strong hands-on Linux systems expertise, including troubleshooting on Ubuntu-like distributions.
• Experience automating infrastructure with Ansible and Terraform.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within large-scale production environments.

Responsibilities

• Improve the reliability of foundational infrastructure by safely managing changes across production fleets.
• Accelerate self-service management by delivering tooling and APIs for platform teams.
• Automate compute lifecycles end-to-end, from provisioning to deployment.
• Build and operate automation for rapid CVE patching and security hardening.
• Enhance observability through monitoring and cross-team collaboration.
• Lead incident response and root-cause analysis to improve system stability.
