NetApp, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to lead innovation across cloud infrastructure, software-defined storage, virtualization, and distributed systems technologies.

You will drive foundational infrastructure capabilities powering cloud-native storage and data management across hyperscaler environments. You will apply broad expertise across Linux systems software, storage architecture, networking, and virtualization, influencing architecture,

Qualifications

12+ years of experience in systems software engineering and distributed infrastructure.
Expert-level C/C++ with strong Python proficiency.
Deep Linux internals, kernel technologies, and performance engineering.
Significant experience designing distributed storage or cloud-native infrastructure.
Deep expertise with virtualization stacks (KVM/QEMU) and virtualization networking.
Strong experience with storage and networking subsystems and kernel development.
Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability.
Operational expertise with hyperscaler cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI).
Proven ability to lead large cross-functional technical initiatives.
Exceptional debugging, systems analysis, and performance optimization.
Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to solve highly complex technical challenges with broad impact.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of scalable, resilient infrastructure components across storage, networking, virtualization, and Linux layers.
Drive architecture and technical direction for major subsystems in storage, virtualization, and distributed cloud platforms.
Contribute to large product areas spanning multiple teams and partners.
Architect and optimize data paths for performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud-scale environments.
Provide technical leadership across virtualization technologies including KVM/QEMU and hypervisor integrations.
Drive engineering excellence through design practices, observability, automation, and operational readiness.
Lead resolution of highly complex technical challenges in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
Influence technical direction via architecture reviews, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
Establish collaboration models across engineering teams and partners to drive alignment.
Mentor engineers and scale organizational capability through guidance and leadership.
Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends in cloud infra, storage, and virtualization.
