Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a hybrid team in Bethesda, MD. The role centers on designing, building, and operating secure and scalable Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting enterprise workloads and modern platforms.

You will own reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of production Azure environments, implement Infrastructure as Code, and collaborate with IT, security, and development teams to deliver resilient cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience operating production cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of Azure networking, security, and identity concepts.
• Experience supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code in Azure.
• Experience designing secure, private Azure networking architectures.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a team located in Bethesda, MD on a hybrid basis. The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will design, build, and operate secure, scalable Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting both enterprise IT workloads and modern application platforms.

Responsibilities of the Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer:

• Design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and core platform services
• Own reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of production Azure environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents across compute, storage, and networking Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Build and manage Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or equivalent)
• Promote repeatable, version-controlled, and peer-reviewed infrastructure deployments
• Reduce manual configuration and ensure consistency across environments
• Design and maintain secure Azure network architectures, including Private Endpoints and Private Link
• Implement hub-and-spoke and segmented virtual network designs
• Ensure secure connectivity patterns for PaaS and IaaS workloads
• Design and operate backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions, including Azure Site Recovery
• Lead and participate in backup and recovery testing
• Ensure infrastructure meets business continuity and resiliency requirements
• Partner with application development teams to support PaaS services and CI/CD pipelines
• Design secure app-to-service communication patterns
• Translate application requirements into scalable Azure infrastructure designs
• Work closely with IT Operations, Security, and external partners
• Participate in planned maintenance windows and production changes as needed
• Provide infrastructure expertise during architecture reviews and incident response

Qualifications of the Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer:

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure
• Experience operating production cloud environments
• Solid understanding of Azure networking, security, and identity concepts
• Experience supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code in Azure
• Experience designing secure, private Azure networking architectures
• Familiarity with Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Azure SQL backup models
• Experience supporting modern application platforms in Azure
• Financial services or regulated‑industry experience is a plus

Compensation for the Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer:

• Salary Range: $150,000+ *flexible based on experience*
