Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking a senior hands-on infrastructure engineer for the Foundational Infrastructure Cloud Architecture and Engineering team in Seattle. You will research, design, test, and develop AWS-based compute and networking platforms used firm-wide, migrating workloads from on‑premises to AWS with a focus on security, reliability, and automation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure or cloud architecture roles.
• Deep expertise in Linux systems architecture, production operations, performance analysis and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience designing and operating highly available, scalable infrastructure systems with networking and distributed systems knowledge.
• Proven ability defining and driving standardized infrastructure patterns across teams.
• Proven ability communicating complex architectural decisions to diverse stakeholders.
• Coding skills with Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, evolve, and own reference architectures for Linux-based workloads on AWS (EC2/ECS).
• Architect and implement scalable, secure, cost-effective cloud infrastructure for production workloads.
• Serve as design authority for cloud solutions and participate in design reviews to ensure alignment with standards and risk posture.
• Lead automation-first patterns for migrating workloads to AWS and for hybrid connectivity.
• Collaborate with SREs, platform engineers, and application teams to translate workload characteristics into resilient infrastructure designs.
• Provide senior technical leadership through mentorship and hands-on support during complex design efforts and incidents.
• Promote automation-driven operations to reduce manual effort and drift.
