Job summary

Open LMS is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help build and scale a multi-tenant SaaS hosting platform on AWS. You will own infrastructure code, from Terraform to Puppet, and contribute to Python tooling and observability pipelines.

The role involves distributed systems thinking, deep Linux expertise, and strong collaboration across teams to improve deployment workflows and platform reliability. This is a remote position aligned with Hungary-based operations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with AWS in production environments.
• Proficiency in creating Terraform modules for production infra.
• Proficiency in authoring Puppet modules for fleet management.
• Solid Python skills for production daemons.
• Deep Linux systems knowledge (Ubuntu) including web servers and networking.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts and tradeoffs.
• Experience building observability pipelines (Prometheus/Grafana/Loki).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
• Develop and maintain Puppet modules for EC2 fleets.
• Enhance Python automation and tooling for platform operations.
• Operate and improve service discovery and configuration management (etcd).
• Tune multi-tier caching (Varnish, Redis/Valkey, PHP OPcache).
• Run and scale observability stack and participate in on-call rotations.
• Evaluate distributed storage solutions as the platform evolves.
• Improve deployment workflows and release processes.
• Collaborate on API contracts and integration patterns.
• Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
