Job summary

Airbnb seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure, to lead the development and operation of our foundational cloud platforms. You will own infrastructure components, APIs, CLIs, Kubernetes infrastructure, autoscaling, and automation to support Airbnb services with reliability and scale.

The role emphasizes collaboration across engineering teams, production-grade design, and a strong ownership mindset.

Qualifications

10+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters and 2+ years with a PhD, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
Proven track record in developing and operating large-scale technical projects with experienced engineers.
Expertise with AWS, GCP, Azure and their IaaS offerings (e.g., EC2).
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Full-cycle developer mentality with ownership and experience in building and operating high-scale, distributed systems throughout the software life cycle.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within and across engineering teams.
Strong problem-solving abilities and solid production debugging skills.
A passion for efficiency, availability, reliability, and overall system quality.
