Job summary

PayPal, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps in San Jose, CA. You will lead by example on cloud-based systems, mentor engineers, and drive AI-powered tooling to improve reliability, productivity, and velocity of Venmo's infrastructure teams.

You will design, build, and integrate AI-enabled automation with AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines while advancing security, observability, and scalable systems across global services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years operating distributed applications 24x7 as part of Cloud/DevOps/SRE.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing and supporting AWS-based infrastructure.
• Hands-on programming in Python, Go, Bash.
• Experience with containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Act as a hands-on contributor, while leading by example in cloud infra and DevOps.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate project activities.
• Design and build AI-powered tooling for Venmo's Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps teams.
• Develop and improve automation to manage infrastructure and configuration as code.
• Integrate AI capabilities into CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling.
• Lead AI-driven initiatives for runbook generation, incident triage, and configuration review.
