Job summary

General Motors seeks an experienced Staff Cloud Identity Platform Engineer to design, automate, operate, and improve secure, scalable identity services for a global enterprise. You will support Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Entra External ID, and Azure infrastructure across workforce, partner, and external-user experiences.

The role applies Site Reliability Engineering, including observability, incident response, capacity planning, and automation to reduce toil while maintaining trustworthy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in identity, cloud engineering, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Entra ID including authentication, federation, SSO, MFA, CA, or identity lifecycle concepts.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra External ID or comparable external-user identity platforms.
• Working knowledge of Azure fundamentals: subscriptions, networking, Key Vault, monitoring, governance.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement, and operate Entra ID capabilities for workforce and applications.
• Implement Entra External ID capabilities for external users, partners, and apps.
• Integrate applications using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, and other standards.
• Configure single sign-on, MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC, and identity lifecycle processes.
• Automate identity and cloud platform tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Define and manage SLIs/SLOs and observe health signals across identity platforms.
• Lead incident triage, root-cause analysis, and blameless post-incident reviews.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infra, architecture, and product teams to manage risks.
