Job summary

Talan is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AWS / Python to support a key client in energy trading. The role centers on designing, building, deploying, and supporting secure, scalable cloud apps and data services for pre-trade, market data, pricing and analytics.

You'll design, develop and operate on AWS with Python, implement IaC, CI/CD and observability while mentoring engineers and leading architecture reviews.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building high-throughput data pipelines in Python/SQL.
• 5+ years on major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with services like S3/Glue/Redshift.
• Experience API design, microservices, and distributed systems.
• CI/CD, Git, production support, observability and incident management.
• IaC using Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation; AWS cert preferred.
• Docker and container orchestration (ECS/EKS).
• Bachelor degree in CS/Engineering/Finance.

Responsibilities

• Build and support cloud-native apps, APIs, microservices on AWS.
• Develop Python backend services and automation.
• Design services for market data, pricing, analytics and pre-trade workflows.
• Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
• Maintain CI/CD, tests, monitoring and observability.
• Apply cloud security and best practices.
• Improve performance, reliability and AWS cost efficiency.
• Lead technical discussions, code reviews and architecture reviews.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
