Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer experienced in deploying and managing AWS cloud infrastructure within the Life Sciences sector. As part of our Cloud Engineering team, you will tackle complex customer challenges, collaborating with clients, Solutions Architects, and partners to deliver our solutions. Your role involves executing projects alongside RCH teams to establish and operate cloud IT services following industry best practices. The cloud landscape evolves rapidly, requiring you to discern hype from reality and recommend solutions tailored to our clients’ needs across multiple providers.

Senior Cloud Engineers will implement solutions, serve as escalation points for junior staff, and lead hands-on deployment and troubleshooting efforts.

Responsibilities

• Present and communicate different solution options, explaining their implications and outcomes.
• Design, implement, and deploy cloud solutions.
• Advise clients on best practices and compliance standards.
• Review and audit existing cloud architectures, creating documentation and presentations.
• Support and troubleshoot escalated issues on supported platforms.
• Coordinate with project managers to meet timelines and scope.
• Ensure systems comply with security and regulatory standards.
• Stay current with cloud services, offerings, and best practices.
• Deploy and configure scientific applications, both commercial and open-source.
• Provide Linux engineering support as needed.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years in Cloud Infrastructure Deployment.
• Expertise in large cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification.
• 5+ years Linux engineering experience (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky).
• 2+ years Application administration experience.
• Experience creating proofs of concept and demonstrations.
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem analysis skills.
• Experience deploying and managing clusters via AWS ParallelCluster.
• Experience supporting Slurm or similar DRM solutions.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Terraform, CFN).
• Effective written communication skills.
• Leadership experience in project teams.

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of deploying/supporting GxP systems.
• Experience with data science programming (Python, R) and automation tools.
• Experience with version control systems (Git, BitBucket).
