Overview

GovCIO has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud Engineer/Architect at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This position supports the U.S. Army C5ISR Center, which aims to provide science and technology solutions for Soldiers within the Army Futures Command. The successful candidate will work on developing technologies for platforms ranging from Soldier to ground vehicle, and from Air to Space. The C5ISR Center ensures our forces can see, sense, communicate, and move faster than adversaries.

This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

The Innovation Exchange Lab seeks support for daily operations, including:

1. Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure.
2. Monitor cloud resources for performance and cost optimization.
3. Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues.
4. Develop, implement, and maintain configurations of cloud services like AWS, Azure Cloudfront, S3, SNS, SQS.
5. Administer AWS EKS, Azure AKS, and related infrastructure.
6. Create deployment scripts for monitoring, reporting, and alerts to ensure a robust, scalable, and high-availability infrastructure.
7. Analyze security threats and assess their impact on customer environments.
8. Triage and resolve technical and user issues.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cloud solutions.
10. Ensure compliance with security and data protection policies.
11. Identify optimal solutions, follow best practices, troubleshoot effectively, stay aware of industry trends, and work well in teams.
12. Support the development and operation of cloud platforms.
13. Utilize DevOps methodologies for deploying complex infrastructures and services.
14. Work in agile, interdisciplinary teams with internal and external customers.
15. Develop optimized deployment scripts and methods using platforms like Terraform and CloudFormation.

Qualifications

High School diploma with 6-9 years of experience or equivalent.

• Security Clearance: Secret (interim acceptable).

Required Skills and Experience

• Understanding of software development processes.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell).
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability.
• 4-8 years of professional experience.
• Knowledge of Cloud Governance, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, DevSecOps, Containers, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Security, Windows & Linux.
• Experience in multi-cloud environments.
• Preferred: Ansible, Jenkins, Python, CI/CD tools like Argo CD, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
• DoD 8570 IAM or IAT II/III (e.g., Security+).

Compensation
