Job summary

PayPal is seeking a Sr Software Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps in Austin, TX. You will own the design and operation of PayPal's cloud-based services, mentoring engineers and advancing SDLC best practices across teams.

You will work on AWS-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and secure development practices while delivering high-availability production systems for users worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in software development or related field.
• 3+ years' experience operating distributed applications 24x7x365.
• Extensive hands-on experience with designing, implementing and supporting infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Hands-on programming and scripting (Python, Java, Bash, Go).
• Hands-on experience with containers & container orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead complete SDLC solutions across design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations.
• Advise management on project-level issues and guide junior engineers.
• Operate with minimal supervision and apply best practices.
• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with product teams to drive timely and quality delivery.
• Troubleshoot incidents and implement preventive measures.
