Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our team in Austin/TX. The role focuses on high-volume MongoDB and PostgreSQL systems in Google Cloud, ensuring data integrity, performance, and availability.

You will automate database operations, implement IaC with Terraform, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database changes while collaborating with engineering for schema reviews and governance. Hybrid work is supported.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience administering MongoDB and PostgreSQL in cloud environments.
• Strong experience with GCP CloudSQL PostgreSQL and BigQuery.
• Experience with Terraform and IaC; CI/CD for database changes.
• Knowledge of high availability, DR, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize high-volume MongoDB and PostgreSQL systems in cloud environments.
• Design and own Terraform modules for GCP databases: Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), Memorystore (Redis/Valkey), AlloyDB, Spanner, and BigQuery.
• Manage large transactional replication with low-latency delivery; use BigQuery as a replication target and tune performance/cost.
• Implement database changes via IaC (Terraform with GitHub PRs) following performance, security, and reliability best practices.
• Establish backup/restore, PITR, HA/failover testing, DR runbooks, and an overall database support plan.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on schema reviews, query optimization, and BigQuery governance.
• Handle security and audit tasks; respond to support requests and data change needs promptly.
• Support incident response and participate in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance.
