Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned Database Administrator to support enterprise Air Force systems, migrate cloud-based databases, and ensure performance and security. You will maintain SQL databases on Azure/AWS, perform DR and testing, and develop migration and lifecycle plans in a highly secure environment.

The role requires Secret clearance readiness, strong scripting ability, and on-site work at government or contractor facilities. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related database administration experience, migrating and maintaining cloud-based databases on Azure and AWS.
• 5+ years of SQL experience.
• 2+ years of Azure SQL and Oracle SQL experience.
• 2+ years of Linux experience.
• Experience coding and scripting.
• Ability to manage workload without direct supervision.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies, tools, and processes in an operational environment.
• Experience working in a customer-centric environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
• Must maintain DOD 8570 Certification, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
• Must be able to work onsite at government or contractor facility locations.
• Education alternatives: high school diploma with 9 years of IT experience; associate degree with 7 years; bachelor's degree with 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Support operation and maintenance of enterprise-level Air Force aircraft communications, equipment maintenance, and training simulation systems.
• Maintain integrity, security, availability, and performance of multiple locally hosted, cloud-hosted, and cloud-based databases.
• Perform disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and data monitoring.
• Develop data migration plans for transitioning databases into cloud-based environments.
• Develop full life-cycle management plans for cloud-based databases.
• Perform database migration activities, including baseline data assessments, data replication and migration, and data and data-structure testing.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation on database status, technical support, and migration efforts.
• Create risk migration plans for database management and migration efforts.
• Review technical change proposals for effects on database integrity and security.
• Participate in technical interchange meetings, design sessions, and unit testing.
• Foster a collaborative, team-based environment and share standard methodologies.
