Job summary

Zohorecruit is seeking a senior Cloud Software Engineer 3 to design, develop, and optimize large-scale Big Data cloud architectures in Annapolis, MD. You will contribute across all stages of backend processing, leveraging Hadoop and modern cloud tech to deliver scalable code and robust data ingestion.

The role requires active TS/SCI with Polygraph, with 12+ years in software engineering (4+ in Big Data/cloud) or 16 years without a degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 12+ years of software engineering, with 4+ years in Big Data/cloud.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, and maintain distributed Big Data cloud systems and back-end processing pipelines.
• Implement custom Java applications, RESTful services, and MapReduce analytics for large-scale data sets.
• Build and integrate software interfacing with Cloud Bigtable, HDFS, and ZooKeeper.
• Design workflows for ingesting, parsing, normalizing, and indexing XML, JSON, CSV, Avro, and binary formats.
• Manage multi-node cloud installs across Linux/CentOS environments.
• Secure distributed apps using PKI, firewalls, and enterprise identity services.
• Provide technical leadership on hardware/software trade-offs and component reuse.
• Profile and optimize JVM memory and application performance.
