Job summary

J&T in Annapolis Junction, MD seeks a senior Cloud Software Engineer 3 to design, develop, and optimize large-scale Big Data cloud architectures and distributed systems.

You will contribute across back-end processing, IR, and data indexing, leveraging the Hadoop ecosystem and cloud technologies to deliver scalable software solutions and robust data ingestion and analytics across multi-node environments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 12 years of software engineering experience, or 16 years w/o degree.
• 2+ years in Cloud/Distributed Information Retrieval and cloud storage.
• Advanced proficiency in Java, RESTful services, Linux/CentOS.
• Experience with Hadoop ecosystem and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, and maintain distributed Big Data cloud systems and back-end pipelines.
• Implement Java applications, RESTful services, and MapReduce analytics for large data sets.
• Integrate with Cloud Bigtable, HDFS, and ZooKeeper.
• Design workflows for ingesting, parsing, normalizing, and indexing data formats.
• Manage multi-node cloud installations across Linux environments; secure apps with PKI and enterprise identity services.
• Provide technical leadership on hardware/software trade-offs and component reuse.
• Profile and optimize JVM memory allocation and performance.
